RAP CLUB - championed as an enabler of social mobility by Teach First, the National Lottery, BBC Children in Need and TES - is a unique approach to modern music education that can be thoroughly embedded within school curriculums and extra-curricular projects. Founded by Benjamin Turner, the project originally formed as a means of engaging disadvantaged young people from challenging circumstances (often on the fringes of violent cultures) who now use their passion and talent for creativity to share and shape their own positive narratives & aspirations. Core to this is the RAP CLUB Curriculum - embedded throughout our programmes - alongside the vital sense of family/community members experience within the group.
RAP CLUB projects have performed multiple times at Wembley Arena (to audiences of 10,000), The Royal Albert Hall, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Assembly Hall etc. in addition to featuring on BBC LONDON NEWS, and a performance alongside Arcade Fire on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. RAP CLUB has also been featured by national education paper School’s Week, the Camden New Journal and South London News. All RAP CLUBs from across London and beyond come together as part of our annual Rap Club Conference. Our hubs (homes of our centralised projects/labels) are in Croydon and Camden.
Alumni & current members of RAP CLUB programmes are supported through KINGDOM LDN.
Our education programme is available for Schools/Youth Leaders (contact us for more details).
Rap Club & Kingdom LDN are part of SPOKEN LDN - the hub of all our work

The RAP CLUB EDUCATION PROGRAMME puts performance, composition and character at the core in developing excellence in musicianship and character for young people. This is embedded within the Rap Club Curriculum (available to schools/educators delivering the programme). Whilst Rap is core to the project, all genres and arts specialisms (including FILM and FASHION) are welcome for exploration, with most taking the form of youth-led initiatives engaging directly with relevant industries. Members are encouraged to be original in their approach to arts whilst being mentored to engage positively in their own communities and narratives. Those familiar with “informal learning” arts practices will find similarities with the Rap Club approach. Our work is led directly by our young people, with the end goal for many Rap Club members to lead aspects including fashion brands and our creative management offer of Kingdom, alongside positions within the Company.
A core goal of Rap Club is “to provoke and promote the excellence and vibrant, unique potential of positive, authentic youth cultures, through creativity and community”.
Schools/educators leading their own affiliated Rap Club projects are supported in their provision and invited to attend the annual Rap Club Conference. This is where Rap Clubs come together to share their music and engage in friendly competition (including Drum-Offs and Rap Battles!). If you are interested in supporting the project or starting your own, please contact us for more details.
